Flood warning for Cork

Red meat consumption needs to fall, not rise.

60% of Irish land is given over to grazing for cattle, that's a bonkers statistic.
Red meat consumption is already falling.

Our climate and land is more suitable for dairy farming and farmers will only plant when there is a market and decent price for their crops.

We also have huge successful global brands from butter to baby formula as a result and we produce much more food than we can eat anyway and import cheaply what we need from Spain and the Netherlands etc.

Irish people are also eating much more pasta, salads, cous-cous etc rather than the meat + 2 veg dinners of old.

Just as an aside, Ireland has the lowest incidence of lactose intolerance in the world.
That's because we've been drinking milk here since the first farmers arrived. Cows have always been an integral part of our society.

Correct.

The Brits found out that rceently when trying to find new markets for their cheese in Japan.

The idea that farmers will risk switching to planting crops of carrots or cabbage in huge numbers for small money is just fanciful.

Excessive consumption of red meat has been linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, processed red meat, such as pork, has been linked to an increased risk of cancer.

People need healthy and nutritious meat alternatives.

Don't be fooled by the shills on here regurgitating the lies of the agri lobby. More cows means more slurry polluting our waterways.

Flood relief and flood defence schemes in Fermoy, Mallow, Douglas, and Togher appear to have worked yesterday.

When is Midleton flood relief scheme proposed to be done?

The website says (c) Copyright 2020, which would indicate that they've been talking about it for three years

There was flooding in Togher.

You are fake news.
