Fitzgibbon Cup

It is a serious side UCC have on paper. They will surely be in the mix. Must be 7 or 8 cork panellists on the panel.

The final will be a repeat of last Sunday's game between UCC and UL imo (assuming they can't meet again until final being in the same group). And I would expect that to be a very tight affair. UCC are a good outfit no doubt but UL are very decent too. I do have reservations about a few of the UCC lads holding down a place on that team. UCC were the better team last Sunday and deservedly won. Both teams were missing some marquee names. I wouldn't be surprised if UL reversed that result later in the competition but as of now I would have UCC as the slightest of favorites to win it out.

UL beaten by UCG. Presume they are gone if head to head comes into if they end up on equal pts after the last game of the group.

Eddie Gunning easily outplaying Seamus Flanagan noteworthy.

Gunning is a very good operator who was messed around by successive minor and U21 management teams in the past but he has consistently been a very good full back for 3-4 years now. Last year he played for Cork against UCC in the Canon O' Brien tournament game and this year he played for UCC and did well both days. Meyler could do a lot worse than have a look at him in the league as he is probably more of a specialist full back than a number of others tried there. He is a hardy bit of stuff who is well able to hurl and doesn't get turned too easily.

Is there an issue? Can't see why he gets overlooked.
