Can someone tell me the difference between "burned" and "burnt".
Would it be right to say "I burned my hand, my hand is burnt"

I would go with burned as a past tense verb but both work.

burnt is for when someone burns you(not with fire)

eg he got burnt by the nippy corner forward

He burned is for fire.

eg The wood burned

Correct. Burned is the past tense of burn in American English, while burnt is used the Queen's English.

Burned is the past tense of burn, where burnt is the past participle of burn and must be preceded by the appropriate form of "to have", that is have or has.
