European and Local elections thread.

Speaking to few canvassers for local elections in last few days. No love for the three main parties in City wards by all accounts! No major aggro but no major sense that votes will be coming their way either.
Indos could do very well.
Cant see SF winning 3 seats in north west, that move could backfire,

Watched some of the debate, My take on it ....Mullins needs to step away from the table, Wallace is an embarrassment, His disdain for Ukraine
was very evident, O murchu was very aggressive but you could see her media experience in how she looked at the camera,
Grace O Sullivan didnt add much, Funcheon trotted out the usual buzzwords without articulating any real opinion,
Mullins will not get in and is only getting his name out there for the General election next year?

A very smart and hard working successful guy from the Northside-the anti-Tommy (Tis all da gubbermints fawlt anyway) Gould candidate

Should take two easily enough. Would only backfire if the vote divides very evenly between the three candidates and only one gets in. Might get three in but it'd have to be a very good day for them.

FF will definitely take one and maybe two with Sheehan and Fitzgerald who pick up a big personal vote and put in the work locally. Probably just about enough of a blue vote here to retain FG seat.

SF have divided the constituency, They have posted maps asking people if the live in map A vote Nugent, Map B vote Collins,
Map C vote Gould,

Interesting - be some bit of electioneering if they pull it off. Candidates generally wary of having a constituency carved up like that. Strong temptation to wander into particular estate or area if you know there is decent support for your party there. That's when the shenanigans start!
FF did it in 2007 with Mehole, McGrath and Dennehy. Dennehy got worried about his chances (with good reason) so started canvassing Carrigaline, which didn't please McGrath's team!!
