European and Local elections thread.

You don’t seem all that calm.

In general yeah I actually would like to see the rule implemented more widely, although obviously not in this case as given it’s happening in at least three other counties right now it would be fairly hypocritical to do it in just one case. But again if we’re saying turn a blind eye to this because John Mullins is a decent skin who has helped Cork GAA then be prepared someday to see a county player in his jersey endorsing a far right party. I doubt you’d be as sanguine about a Cork player endorsing for example a party that supports Israel’s actions, and I’m glad a rule exists to protect us against that.

You’re conflating issues now because you have no actual argument other than you don’t mind it. There’s a world of difference between a club acknowledging a polticians help and a club coming out and saying “Vote for Candidate X”. A club that did that would find itself in hot water with both candidate Y and Z and their own governing body very quickly. If you can’t see the difference I can’t help you.

I’d be interested in knowing where the exemption of Rule 1.11 is for a sponsor as you keep reminding us that this particular candidate is? I chaired a club for years and we were always conscious of this rule and extremely cautious about staying the right side of it. I’m not aware of any such technicality.
Well I'm not calm at the fact you want to see two of our lads suspended the rest I'm fairly calm with.

I'm conflating no issues, in your eyes it's ok for clubs to be associated with politicians when they're getting help and money off them but not ok when people endorse someone. That's contradictory.

As you bring up the Israel and Far Right to try make a point, if you wanna play that route sure UCC currently is being protested against and looking for divestment so will we throw them out of the Championship? Cause they've a link with Israel?

I never said exemption I said technicality.
Why can't individual players support a candidate who's supported them and their club?
Give something back.
That's what the GAA is built on isn't it?

As you said you were a club chairman - I just hope you didn't ask any Councillors or TD's for help with grants when you were in the role and if you did I hope there's no pictures of you with said people thanking them.

The country needs landlords. The private rental market should be regulated but in the case of non payment of rent it should be easier for landlords to evict.
The country needs homes - another 250,000 of them! More or less landlords isn’t the issue - the issue is having enough homes for our people to live in.

Absolutely recalcitrant tenants should be punished!

Obviously but more landlords and private rental properties being available will put landlords in competition with each other, rents will come down as a result. Rents have gone up in large part because of a chronic lack of supply. I live in Fermoy and there is one house and one apartment to rent in the town. Not near enough.

And SF / IRA are also responsible for scaring a lot of landlords to sell up houses over the last few years.
They vilified them.

The RTB's postal address is in Clonakilty, you complete fool. ?

And there is a further scarcity of supply owing to government taxation and over-regulation driving landlords out of the market, and who would blame them.

As per usual you haven't a donkey's notion on the topic you wade in on.
Are you not a landlord then?
