Dr Harty Cup 2024-2025

Full Time CBC: 0-19(19) Doon: 0-9(9)
I caught the 2nd half of this game. CBC were in 3rd gear but I did admire the fight of Doon. Their number 5 and number 10 showed great fight in particular. But for CBC, MT Brosnan showed flashes of his brilliance. Eoghan O' Shea from Ballinhassig, corner forward, played well. His shooting from frees and from play was excellent. I was also impressed with Ben Meyer, wing forward, from Ballinora.

2 heavy defeats today

Saw some of Roco match. Went down to 13 and conceded 5 goals in last 15 mins or so which skews things a bit. There were 6 points in it midway through the second half. Nenagh a fine outfit though and brought far greater intensity. Time and again Cork teams at every grade can't seem to match this

Fair play to all at Tralee CBS, they knew the standard and quality of the Harty cup and knew how tough it is before they entered, but they still had faith in their players that they would represent their school well and put up brave performances which it looks like they did, they obviously know that they won’t win the competition outright and the easy option would be “let’s stay down at B and we will look better which would be the attitude of a lot of people

Are Christians in a poor group or are they in with a shout? I was under the impression they weren't that strong this year.

It's hard to judge, really.I have been to both their games and they seemed to play well within themselves in both ties.Yesterdays match should have been over at half time but due to alot of wayward shooting from "non shooters"there was only three in it at the short whistle. They also butchered a goal chance during the first half.I suppose you have to factor in that they lost two of the starting forwards to injury inside the opening fifteen minutes.
Having said all that, they are a high work rate team that are drilled on the basics in the backs and midfield.I was seriously impressed by their ability to win opposition puckouts and ruck ball. They put teams under serious pressure and are well coached on the basics of tackling and moving the ball cleverly between the lines.
Stiffer tests await ,but ,make no mistake, they are a team to be reckoned with and will outwork and overpower most teams. They must fix their shooting though if they are to be in the conversation for contenders in January.

I think its an ego trip myself
They got beaten in the B quarter final last year
Now they got a hammering from Thurles and have to play flannans who Thurles hit a goal and a point in injury time to draw with.
Surely playing B and trying to win it would be better for them
