CSN Halcyon Days.

Another memory is Niall ‘ Donie’ o Donovan’s film society.
I think they used to be on a Saturday night once a month.
Basically Donie had a big screen and a film reel I think and showed a film.
Way better than Netflix!! Way better for us too. Another teacher ahead of his time.

Donie had a dry sense of humor, gas man when he got going.

Chatted to Declan Davis for 30 minutes or so on Capwell road
We’d some craic ref CSN- cork Celtic- etc
He’s 76 this year and v fresh still
Does voluntary work in the Holy trinity church weekly
Nice decent man ,v funny and has brilliant memory

I was talking to him at the CSN 50 th anniversary dinner a few years back.
That was great craic that night. Bertie got a rousing reception when he spoke.

( bar a bit of salmon poaching that involved a bailiff half drowning and an uncle in trouble -
Who incidentally became a labour councillor and a justice of the peace)

Himself and Bertie were what teaching is all about, real decent characters that we all learned about life in spades.

We learned a lot from Cotter, Leo, Gunther and Harry as well.
Life is about dealing with all different types of characters… we certainly got a nice mix in CSN, all guided by Ram and Bertie.

No doubt you gotta be able to deal with the good the bad and the ugly in life and we got plenty up there. All those beating from the RAM was about teaching me what was to come
