Cork needs a Rory Gallagher Museum

With his brother, Donal, now set to auction off most of Rory's possessions including his '61 Strat to the highest bidder - it's safe to say that this won't happen.

It's become a trend over the last ten years for rich private bidders to sweep up swathes of classic guitars and for them never to be seen again.

Sheena crowley organising a fundraiser in city hall to try and buy the strat

I'm curious as to what happens to the dough if Sheena fails in her endeavor.

I presume that it'll go to charity but there's no mention of that in the article.

It seems like some waste of time and energy.

She's raised €30k, and needs to hit €1m.

That's assuming the guitar even goes for that. It's going in an auction.

So unless this gig earns another €970k and Donall agrees to sell for €1m, what happens to the €30k?

The 30K is donations guaranteed so gofundme will refund people.

The money from the gig is the question if dhe clears say at €25 euro a ticket day 700 people go, thats 17.5k, say clears 10k after expenses. what happens then?

I don't know her personally but going on her excellent reputation she's not the type to hold on to the money and be driving around in a brand new soft top if that's what people are wondering.

She could probably do with just a one line explainer but chances are she has done that already and it hasn't reached this dark hole of

U2 could easily buy it ten times over with all the tax they've been dodging over the years.

I'd say best case scenario someone like Joe Bonamassa, Brian May or Slash buys it.

Most likely scenario it goes to some rich cunt and disappears off the face of the earth. This is the world we live in now.

But really the government should've stepped in long before this.

I don't think anyone is concerned with her running off with the money, I was just curious as to what happens to it when a Gofundme doesn't hit the target, which this one clearly isn't going to do.

Like on no planet are they going to raise €100k, never mind €1m, so what's the point?
