Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Obviously surplus to requirements and had an average Club Season, injury prone . Service done . Let’s move on . Lot of Clowns here writing Pat Ryan’s Epitaph. Give me a break FFS . We have u20’s chomping at the bit and need to be given their chance . Should be more gone .
He went on his own terms and leave him have it, same can't be said for other fellas who stayed hanging on or the week of a team announcement in December when they know they're getting cut decide to 'retire' so they don't bruise their egos.
'Clowns' here are more than entitled to thank him for his service and talk about the memories and moments. If he didn't suffer from injuries still had plenty to offer.

Do you honestly think Ryan will still be in a job if he has a similar championship campaign in 2024?
Massive improvement needed and theres nothing remotely controversial in saying that.

Cadogan was Fantastic servant, took the fight to Kilkenny twice in Croker when others decided to faff their lines again!! . Time moves on . There is raft of players looking to be blooded. Stop with the little agendas " Yerra if Patcheen has another season like that, Yerra Cads will be back"

I think you're gone off the deep end a bit Highwayman.

I hope Ryan wins every game in league and championship. That said a similar year to 2023 and it will be goodbye and good luck.

Hardy an 'agenda' my friend. ?

If we don't get out of Minster again PR will be gone and I think BOC will be the man to take over. However, considering the talent at our disposal and management learnings of year 1, I don't see that happening.

I agree with most of that.
However, I think players need to be afforded to time to reflect on if they can still make a contribution next year. That decision obviously will also include discussions with Pat Ryan.

Any player who has given the commitment to play with Cork in hurling or football should be shown respect.

There are lots of young players who will in time push the older players out, it is the way it works.

Cadogan was excellent on his day, unmarkable even. Sadly like a lot of our forwards in recent years was just too hit and miss on any given day. A fine player, and seemingly a good lad.

Maybe you missed the hurling season 2023 completely, apart from the final results after the Munster round robin finished.

Certainly Pat Ryan and his team made mistakes. In my opinion they got the team wrong against Clare in particular and made decisions on the line that on reflection they might not make again.

However, we were beaten away from home by one point in games against Clare and Limerick and anybody with any knowledge whatsoever could see we were well up to the level required to win both games. Errors and poor referees cost us.

JBM said after we were beaten by Limerick that on reflection he could not believe the errors he made in his first year in charge of Cork in 1998. He sid he learned more in that year than any other.

He also said that if Cork had come out of Munster then he felt we would have been the team to beat along with the champions.

The expectation for every Cork senior hurling manager every year is to win the All Ireland. That is the pressure Pat Ryan is under, nothing more, imo.

Losing better is the standard ?

Cmon off of that. Its a results based business. Winning one championship game in the season isn't good enough.

Not by a long stretch.
