Cork Hurlers - Part 2

That’s a very good point and one I never thought of. Their studies should come first. They’ll have many more years to play hurling for Cork.

Although I remember talking to John Meyler about this a few years ago and he said that as part of his setup they had study nights for the players in college to ensure they didn’t neglect or fail behind in their studies. I’d imagine the GPA are very good in this regard too.
Looking back Meyler had a lot right , seemed like an excellent set up, I knew a couple of players involved at the time and they were raving about the environment Meyler created… the bench in the ‘18 semi final was a killer and he doubled down the year instead of driving more change which didn’t work out at all.

Back to the present, the injury situation is mental. Heavy gym work shouldn’t be a factor, in fact it should help in theory. Some freak ones like Darragh fitzgibbon & ROF but there shouldn’t be so many hamstring injuries, most obvious reason is that they were not recovering properly and doing too much (the fitzgibbon overlap with the league needs to be managed better).

Lectured me in MTU for a year. Very impressive guy. Get the sense he’s a big disciplinarian and I think some of the players didn’t react well to it. Completely agree re 2019. He’d an opportunity to bring more lads in and he didn’t. Our loss to Kilkenny was our own fault.

Myers isn’t on the panel ?

Brilliant re Darragh, heard good reports also, would think a role in the forward line is on the cards, with Tim in the center with Roche
