Cahalane was the boy for the kingdom

Was it the '89 Munster Final that he missed 'cos of injury? I have a faint recollection of him being briefly interviewed on TV (on the training ground) on the week of the match - where he said how gutted he was to be missing the match. Something like Cork were going to beat Kerry for three years in a row and he wasn't going to be part of it, and his voice then breaking slightly with emotion. The passion. We've lost something when we no longer have do-or-die knockout matches in the Munster Football Championship (perhaps it had to change, but there were losses with the gains).

Now my memory might be playing all sorts of tricks on me, and perhaps it didn't happen that way at all - but that memory is worth having anyway!

Cork had some defense that time.

Look, both of them were fantastic footballers.

Cork got a hell of a return out of the progression of the 1981 and 1983 minors, despite the overall period being very difficult at senior level. Whatever way it was, the intense desire was there.

Mick Slocum was as stylish a wing back as has ever played the game.
