Cork Camogie 2022

was just looking back at recent results there- Cork , KK & Galway have played some really close matches over the last 7 championships- rarely more than a point or two in it, Waterford new to this level- were beaten by Cork in last year's semi, 2nd ever final, beaten by Antrim in 1945.

Cork will be raging hot favourites. Managing that and ensuring the group stay focused will be Twomey's most important task.

I watched the game and not only were Cork superior today but they have been far superior in the last 2 games compared to the league final v Galway. Saoirse McCarthy is a joy to watch and Cork forwards are now playing closer to goal and getting the ball inside with Katrina Mackey a proper mobile target and finisher. Aisling Thompson is back making a crucial difference in the closing stages. I just can't understand why the management are persisting with Chloe Sigerson as forward, she was a fine wing-back and a big striker from distance.

Chloe Sigerson was all you say but whatever pace she had has gone now unfortunately. Was targeted yesterday and that would be be even more the case against Waterford who have absolute hares around the middle. No way should she or will she be replacing any of Coppinger, Mackey, Cahalane, Hayes, O’Regan and Treacy from yesterday’s lineup. They were all excellent especially Laura Treacy who gave a masterclass in sweeping up. A concern for Cork was the fact that Galway were able to bottle up Fiona Keating. Maybe she was carrying an injury but her impact has been standout all season and that impact was seriously missing yesterday. She just wasn’t making those penetrating runs she’s been making all season. Hopefully she’ll be back to her best for the final.

What a set of substitute Cork had. Laura Hayes and Clíodhna Healy have definitely put their hands up for a place in the starting lineup.

A superb win, an awful lot of that was down to pure grit and determination. That young girl Healy lost her hurley late on in the game, still chased down her opponent and knocked the ball away with her hand.
Saoirse McCarthy excellent again. Thompson got on the world of ball when she came on.

If Chloe Sigerson doesn't have the pace for the middle third then she shouldn't be wing-forward. Maedbh Murphy was also in the lineup and started corner-back v Galway.
