Anyone else thinking of heading to this? Seems interesting, "Elements of Jungian Psychology in Norman Mailers "The executioner song"... Among various other topics which seem to be related to Crime novels etc. Would like to attend the Conan Doyle lecture.

James Ellroy, the Demon Dog of American Crime Fiction, is the only crime writer I've read, and he blew me away.

Gotta love a guy who introduces himself thusly:

'Good evening peepers, prowlers, pederasts, panty-sniffers, punks and pimps. I'm James Ellroy, the demon dog, the foul owl with the death growl, the white knight of the far right, and the slick trick with the donkey dick. Trying to finish David Simon's "Homicide" at the mo. Bought "The Corner" too. Think I'll have break in between though. Re-read "Clockers" two weeks ago. Immense.

Started it yesterday. Seems very good but a long read. Is it worth it?

It's worth it so far. I'm about halfway through. What keeps me interested is his style. There's a lot of different stories and people involved but it never gets muddled.

On the down side it's quite heavy and nearly lifted me clean off the jacks bowl the first couple of times. :mrgreen:
