The largest budget in the state's history.

Paschal is on his feet right now.

What a time to be alive.

The Package - In the region of €20 billion - of that €14bn has already been earmarked, in particular for Covid-19 supports.

Economy - A €3bn- €5bn kickstart which will provide an additional stimulus to the economy against the dual threats of Covid-19 and Brexit, specifically aimed at businesses that have been affected by the pandemic and who may be affected in a hard Brexit scenario.

Taxes - income tax, USC and PRSI expected to remain untouched Commercial rates waiver - likely to be extended into 2021.

Tobacco - the cost of 20 cigarettes to go up by as much as 50 cent.

Social Welfare - The core rates of social welfare are due to be protected. Unlikely to be any increases for the pension or jobseekers.

PUP - likely to be restored to the €350 rate though altered to allow self-employed to earn €480 a month through their work, while still claiming the payment, as well as three weeks paid parental leave on top of the existing two weeks.

Christmas bonus - One week bonus will be available to 400,000 people in receipt of the PUP and jobseeker's payment.

€1.5bn rainy day fund to be fully utilised.

The Government is hoping to secure €2.5bn from the EU to fund the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme.

How many times exactly will the hard left and Shinners use the words "outrageous", "unacceptable" and "disgrace" in the next 24 hours?

Policy facts aside - if the government did something that you fundamentally did not agree with it today - and your job was a TD, do you think you wouldn't say anything? Or shouldn't say anything?

The difference is saying it for the sake of saying it and I think your point is that SF, PBP etc will be using these terms irrespective of fact.

The government has signalled the budget up front. I'd imagine Pearse Doherty will make an informed and fact based contribution to the debate but similarly his contribution will be dismissed purely because of the party he represents.

It seems Paschal and MMcG have been getting on like a house on fire so the budget will almost certainly fiscally risk averse.

Ireland has a 3 party government with teams of advisors and civil servants putting together a budget and Mary Lou and big Pearce will tell us that it's all wrong.

I was wondering how you would manage to bring the shinners into the thread. It only took you 24 minutes.

You have it bad.

Makes perfect sense with C-19 and Brexit and responsible under the circumstances.

This Govt. could give everyone €500 a week and a free Sky subscription and they would still whinge.
