Best E-Book reader.

Thinking of getting an e-book reader, no need for 3G or anything like that.

Just wondering what the differences are between them and what are among the better models out there.
How much is about average for an ebook reader?

Looking for something that's easy on the eyes, light and ideally cheap enough.

Can most ereaders use PDF's?

If you just want an eReader then I would imagine a Kindle is the best bet.

About €110 from amazon.com.

The big problem I have with the Kindle is that if you sign up for a newspaper subscription Amazon/Kindle charge you to deliver it on top of the fee you've paid to the publisher.

The new one has a PDF reader as standard.

I got a Kindle and downloaded all my books in an extra-legal manner - can't be beaten I don't think. Price is great, just get yourself a cover to protect it if it's in your bag or anything and you're set.

Also don't forget to check Amazon as they sometimes have free ebooks. Generally though the free stuff will be old classic books, self help books and educational stuff. There are ways to get loads of free books if you use a warez site or similar.

As you start to build up your library you definitely should use Calibre (get it here) it does absolutely everything you'll need, including converting formats, sending stuff to your Kindle and organizing all your books, and it's free.

I have a v1 Kindle. The webstore is no longer supported. I was never delighted about being tied to amazon

You're not tied to Amazon if you use Calibre as your ebook manager. That'll convert whatever you have into the correct format for your device.
