2024 Junior A Football Championship

Firstly on Grenagh, they're a side in development with a few good young lads coming through but they definitely don't need a local hype man putting unwarranted expectations on them. They wouldn't be looking past getting out of that group, they'd be focusing on trying to get out of it so you saying they'd bottle it is bewildering.

Gleann na Laoi in Junior B championship so above incorrect
Any idea when the Junior B county championship draw is ? For both hurling and football

Muskerry draw. Scarra ballingeary blarney BNora. Don’t know much about these teams scarra be happy with this draw and can focus on hurling ? Eire og kilmichael donoughmór Clondrohid. Very straight forward group it seems. aghina dripsey grenagh ballingcollig. Definitely group of death. I tip collig to win it out. Grenagh have a golden generation com through so could you see them bottling it ? Dripsey could cause an upset especially considering they’ve the Kerry pike lads footballing with them now. Or will an ageing rusheen side dog it out ? Very interesting
Gleann na Laoi don’t play football with Dripsey. That’s just an underage amalgamation

My team previews for the south-east football, no draw done yet
  • Ballygarvan - With a golden generation coming through again for Ballygarvan. They will look to push on and make it back to a county final. They will have more or less the same squad as last year and will still be reliant on big performances from Sean Brady and Evan O'Connor. Definitely the favourites for this year and should be pushing to win the county. With most of the squad being quite young, they will dominate the South-East for a number of years if they can’t win the county.
  • Ballinhassig - The most dominant team in the South East over the past 12 years. They have a slightly ageing squad but with some very talented young players and it could be almost a last hurrah for some of the older players this season. Adam O'Sullivan will be a key young player for them in their push for the title.
  • Shamrocks - Amazed at how this team with such small numbers have made back to back semi-finals, doubt they will cause the top teams in this grade any problems, but will definitely beat up on the weaker teams in this grade. The loss of Dylan O Flaherty to injury is a major blow. Unfortunately, they have small numbers coming through and the team is getting older and older every year. Sean Andrews and Mark Hitchmough will continue to be great players and keep them in games themselves. It will be interesting to see the development of Fionn Herlihy and Cian O Flaherty. A dark horse for an upset all the same.
  • Valley Rovers - A team who are definitely dark horses for this year, with an influx of P1 minors playing coming into their already very solid team. Some of last year’s squad will make the jump to senior but the minors coming through should help them out. Especially Oisin McCarthy, a great minor footballer coming through for them.
  • Carrigaline - Disappointing season for this squad in 2023, should be doing better than what they have been doing. The main question is can they put it together and not collapse in games like they have done recent years? Brilliant underage coming through but Carrigaline seems to not be able to bring them through.
  • Ballymartle - The loss of Donnacha Desmond is really the nail in the coffin for this side. They already don’t care about football and with their best player transferring away, it will be another year of nothing for this group. Their win over Kinsale in Under 21A Football without him shows there are footballers there but no appetite for it when hurling comes around.
  • Courcey Rovers - Despite Olan Crowley and Colin Roche’s best efforts, this team doesn’t have much football and they will struggle again in this grade. Their losses to Tracton and Belgooly in Under 21B Football highlight their underage struggling with football and not much coming through.
  • Kinsale - This is their 2nd string’s first time up in Junior A in a number of years. They will definitely struggle as they got hammered in Junior B football last season despite having a good league. They must be very hopeful on the Minor footballers that will be playing with them this year.

Be nice if they would share this with us… Interesting to see Grange down Junior C, played Junior A in 2020 & 2021 afaik.

Is macroom actually a big club anymore? I'd say their numbers wouldn't be that big
Looking at the Lee Valley they had 28 togged out in U21C Championship which is 13 a side whereas Kilmichael had 14 togged out, im sure the same team for Macroom were minor A and were playing premier U16 last year, cant understand how the Mid Cork Board are letting them get away with it to be honest. Either way maybe they would be better off investing their 30K on their underage structures instead of Aidan O' Mahoney because there isent a hope in hell they will do anything in the Premier Intermediate championship.
