2022 Premier Senior Hurling

Thanks was told that but always like a bit of confirmation.
Yes first cousins from what im told from a kilshannig man so 2nd confirmation. Jack was number 26 on the cork minor team 2017 that lost to galway in final. Evan sheehan, turnbull, downey o l hayes team.

Just a word on Avondhu. Remember they can't pick from Charleville, Ballyhea, Newtownshandrum, Mallow or Fermoy due to them being up Senior. But I thought there was an evident improvement in their set up this year. The interest levels from players and clubs have increased too. Manager Joe O' Brien manifested a good interest that I hope can be backed up again next year.

I hope this increase in interest from players and clubs will encourage a few other players to join the set up next year. With a better quality pool of players and a continued interest, I can see Avondhu at least closing the gap on Imokilly.

The divisions are very important. Without them the likes of the impressive Stevie Condon, Colin O' Brien and Jack Twomey wouldn't get the exposure. Three players who have been brilliant for the North Cork division this year. Jack Twomey has a great hand, something I haven't seen much of in any senior club game this year.

Imokilly were obviously a gulf in class. Mike Kelly, Seán Desmond, Diarmuid Healy and Jack Leahy were particularly good, which is also great to see.

North Cork Star

Your post is spot on but you forgot Newtownshandrum as a club Avondhu can't pick from also because of their senior status.

Is Jack Twomey worth looking at by the Cork senior hurling management, maybe the same could be said for Stephen Condon? AFAIR Jack was part of a Cork AI winning U-16 squad in 2016 but got little game time due to injury, Dromtarriffe's Conor O'Callaghan captained that side and a good few of them went on to win AI U-17 and U-20 medals namely Aaron Walsh Barry, Daire Connery, Sean Twomey, Shane O'Regan among others. Mark Keane was also part of that squad but then focused on football at inter-county minor level.

There is very little talent in the avondhu junior c/ship & the intermediate teams are struggling in lower grade competitions. (Kilworth doing ok). Avondhu are miles off competing in the county senior c/ship. The college teams this very were very poor and without their inter county players from other counties won’t be competitive. Outside of Imokilly (who won’t win county imo) the rest of divisions/colleges seem to be fielding to make up numbers .

This is because there are too many grades, there should be only one senior grade and then a division like Avondhu would prosper. We can't expect to have 2 senior grades as well as strong Divisional teams.

Sher Imokilly are even more handicapped by more of their clubs being senior. All boils down to the quality of hurling in north cork being poor, junior to senior. None of the above mentioned clubs, bar catching someone on the hop, have any chance of winning either Senior championship.

If there was only one senior grade the Divisions would be nearly too strong. You'd be adding another 5 clubs onto an already very strong Imokilly team for example. While I agree there are too many grades in Cork, we're a unique county in the sense that we have a way more clubs to cater for in comparison to other counties, so its a difficult situation for the county board.

Thats the harsh truth right there.
