100% Increase in Drivers in Cork Caught without Insurance

if ever there was a cause for use of technology the use of cameras to confirm that cars are insured through licence plate recognition is it.

I see zero reason why this could be considered any infringement to privacy.

Only in cars not though Automated fixed cameras potentially mounted on all traffic lights

also when i googled ANPR there is no mention of insurance status only Tax and linked to various crimes

"All vehicles fitted with ANPR camera systems will be able to identify vehicles as being stolen, untaxed, suspect, cited as connected with terrorist suspects, crime groups, drug trafficking, people trafficking and/or persistent offending"

Sorry it’s the Garda Mobility App for insurance. I agree with you regarding fixed cameras and these could be used to detect breaking red traffic lights and stopping in a yellow box also. Both are happening far too frequently.

I actually had my car broken into a few years ago. I tend to drive shitpiles of cars so there was nothing of value. They took about a fiver worth of coins and my insurance disc. I presumed this is standard procedure, in a normal checkpoint not supported by something like the mobility app how would a Garda ever spot it on the road
