I asked one of the kids there, did it have a different name now. He said "bulldog tackle" with emphasis on the tackle

We called it butcher or bulldog. I think the British was beaten out of it early enough in Ovens

I’m surprised how few injuries there were. It was a truly scrotumtightening prospect to be the last free man about to line up for your run, everyone else with fists and feet ready to clock ya. LOL, concrete and tarmac surfaces an’ all.
