De Event Centre

The new Premier Inn planned for the Leisureplex site should deliver an extra 170 rooms for betweeen €70 and €90 per night. We need more of these kinds of hotels which will then help put pressure on Air BnB hosts in the city centre and hopefully reduce the incentive for property owners to offer short term lets, thus helping the property market. That would also make the city more attractive for short breaks for people who would be attending the event centre when it finally gets built.
Air B&Bs now need planning permission to continue short term letting. You can not get planning permission for a short term let in a rental pressure zone. Places that have been short term letting are being refused planning.
The objective is to put and keep houses and potential homes into the housing market, not the tourism market

How much are they charging when Bruce comes to town. Average price for tonight around 140.

375 for Isaacs, 419 for the Dean.

They'll blame the algorithm but thats some Dublin level price gouging.

I got the imperial for 236 when it was announced which is still 100 quid over the odds

Premier Inn for next friday night (March 8th), is €93. That's not too bad.
Sounds reasonable in fairness and it's right in the middle of the city.

Could it be that the other Cork hotels are feeling the pinch as the cheaper Premier Inn takes their business? Maldron and Clayton/Clarion hotels are owned by Dalata Hotel Group who own 53 other hotels and are as international as the Premier Inn. It's not like it's some bad ass multinational coming in to eat up the poor little locals.

Maybe it's time to......[insert horror music].....lower.....your....prices....?? :devilish:

They're gone completely to shit.

Their hotels in Dublin/Limerick/Cork/Manchester all badly need a refit.

Seriously tatty looking.
