Why do you think that? FIFA have already said that if Wales, Scotland etc. applied today they wouldn't be granted a team but they're allowed for historical reasons.

Why should their standen change?

It's up to FIFA to decide, the Irish government can apply to change the status but FIFA don't have to agree.

Most Islands have just one passport and one nationality so analogies are irrelevant.

You can't go up to the North and take the British passports off a million people.
