Where in Cork am I?

Yup, one of three Rope Walks in the City afaik, though since the recent expansion there could well be more. There's another Rope Walk in that general area running behind the houses up by Shanakiel - from the entrance to St Anne's Pitch and Putt club, and the other one is down in Blackrock village "behind" the Pier Head around to Dun Locha (sp)
Why is it called rope walk?

Due to it being narrow?

Don't know tbh. Reason at the time of getting the name is lost in history now but perhaps there was a rope by way of a "hand rail" or with the one near the bottom of Wyse's Hill perhaps it had something to do with the work going on in the distillery underneath. The one in Blackrock is unusual in that it forms a kind of split-level in the road so maybe at one stage there was a rope warning people to mind their step. 🤷‍♂️

I had the impression that rope walks were something to do with fishing nets.
