The next Government

Who will form the next government

  • Total voters
    56
  • Poll closed .
Job losses at twitter and facebook bears out how reliant we are on this sector for tax take,
Mick Barry was on the radio yesterday saying that we should increase the corporation tax to 25% even when it was pointed out to him that the international tech sector is currently struggling and we along with all the other OECD countries are raising it to 15%

Regina Doherty had to point out to him that the current tax take funds 25% of public services etc and Norn Iron has a corporation tax rate of 25% and does not get the investment + all the other benefits like jobs and investment that other countries would love to take off us.

He wants the State to nationalise them and just get the Government form their own tech giants.

Barking mad as per usual.

The State can hardly manage the health service never mind a nationalised social media company costing the taxpayer billions of €€€ (shitter, phasebuke or pintsasham?)

Heard it was a pity. Two liars and bluffers shouting over each other,

I'd be surprised if Eoin O'Broin shouted over him - don't think I've ever heard him shout tbh.

If it's as you claim jimmy (was it in the Harp, on Facebook, or Whatsapp that you "heard" about it?) they were shouting over each other, it doesn't say much for whoever was supposed to have been moderating said debate.

Did Mick Barry actually go nuclear-nutcase and say that the Irish state should nationalise multinationals like twitter and facebook  - surely even Mick Barry isn't that thick!

Or is this just more of your lies?

Wouldn't be surprised if he did, didn't his fellow comrade Coppinger want to nationalise Dell.
He is that thick by the way.

What a bluffer just like yourself coining it in at taxpayer expense.

You do know what People Before Profit are even about?

The public own everything via nationalisation.

@MickBarryTD

End the market tyranny over housing supply - nationalise the large construction companies and use them to build massive amounts of social and public housing

  • Generic Pharmaceutical Industry. The Irish state currently gives around €700 million to companies in order to do research and development (R&D) here. People Before Profit would begin to re-direct that money into a state-run pharmaceutical industry dedicated to producing drugs that could be sold below the cost of branded alternatives. Thanks to years of neoliberal tax breaks, Ireland already has the people and the facilities to make a state-run pharmaceutical industry a success.
  • State-Led Oil and Gas Exploration. People Before Profit is dedicated to making Ireland carbon neutral. We are also opposed to the issuing of any more licences for oil and gas. Instead, we need to take control of all existing operations and prospecting in order to use some of the available oil and gas to provide the resources to make the transition.
A State-Run Construction Company. Ireland is caught in the grip of a major homelessness and housing crisis. It would be possible to build many more new units via a state-run construction company.

Going on RTE drivetime yesterday wanting the State to take over multi-nationals.
