RTE generally produce shite though. No more EastEnders and Hollyoak's etc?
What is not to like?
Sounds like a good plan to me and more native output.
Soap operas are meant to be "shite".RTE generally produce shite though.
Doubt if RTE would do any better based on my time watching home produced shite. "Strumpet City" is one of the notable exceptions.Soap operas are meant to be "shite".

By the way is today no link day?The EBA has directed that there cannot be more than 30% of broadcasts from outside the European Union.
It puts RTE in a dilemma in that some of the soaps could be axed. It could result in loss of advertising revenue as viewers may opt to watch them on British channels.
Cork born Deee Forbes is very worried about this directive and is likely to look for a deregration on the directive.
What percentage of the EU's population do you reckon have English as their first language now that the UK has left the EU?
I think in broad terms those within the EU who have English as their first language dropped from about 75M in the EU's 450M (16.67%) down to 5M out of 380M (1.32%) thanks to brexit.
That being the case, if the programming changes to reflect those figures you must enjoy a lot of dubbed or subtitled tv to think it a good plan.
