Is that Conn?A self appointed head of 'cycling campaigns' is nothing more than a crank who makes a lot of noise.
The Cork one is as bad as the rest around the country.

Apparently the bus connects plan is in difficulty now as well, with calls for it to be scrapped from city councillors.Surely, given how much those cyclists think about the environment, the lycra mob could organise litter-picking to keep their part of the road network clean and tidy?

Many of these initiatives prove counterproductive once they are implemented. Also, the Patrick Street traffic ban is an example of an initiative being almost completely ignored. Without the support of the public, many of these plans will be doomed to failure.
Very true you rarely see them kittedout unless they are racing or training in a group. Our very own snack box wouldn’t last 5 mins against them over there. They're not. The dutch have a term for them called "wielrenner". Basically you don't wear the lycra or use a race bike unless you are cycling competitively or racing. This is at odds with another chap we know. Spent 4 days in Amsterdam last week and didn't see a single lycra clad knobhead.
The interesting thing about some of that is that it appears that some cyclists assume that all cars are internal combustion engine powered. I’m getting a little fed up of cyclists claiming that “cars pollute the air,” when more and more cars are zero emissions whereas a cyclist emits 10gms of CO2 per kilometre. Ok, it’s not much but it’s way more than zero.‘Worthy of the Stasi’: British Cycling in Queen’s funeral U-turn after ridicule
British Cycling has performed a sharp U-turn after its ‘strong recommendation’ that people should not use their bikes at all during the Queen’s funeral was widely mocked.www.theguardian.com
Apparently the cyclists are pissed off about the City Council meeting the residents of Greenfields in Ballincollig. Some guy who runs something called “Cork City Cycling Campaign” is saying he has never been invited to meet with city councillors. The residents also claimed that the proposal to install bollards would make it impossible for road sweeping vehicles to clean the proposed cycle lanes. That’s an interesting point: if the cycle lanes cannot be swept then they will make it more dangerous for cyclists. Being heard is one thing, but local residents don't get a veto on every little bit of change that may happen to a road, bus lane or cycle lane. However, in Cork, it appears to be the case.Glossy brochures are one thing but councillors also have to listen to the concern of the voting public. A vocal interest groups might make a lot of noise on social media but they seem to think they deserve to be heard more than people living in the areas affected
