I don't think I can name a proper big rock band to emerge after the millennium.

There hasn't been a new Metallica, Pearl Jam, ac/DC, fucking oasis even.

Why would the music industry want to appease proper talent like Noel Gallagher et al. when they can market Harry 'Boy Band' Styles as the new David Bowie. I think Harry with his costume department are easier manage than real talent, you know the type who have probably lead some fucked up life where music was their form of escapism. Harry is a stage school kid who is headlining Slane, Jesus wept!
