I'd be very much in favour of Dalton getting a chance in goals. Give him the pre season games. If he impresses then let him fight it out with Collins during the league. If he doesn't then try him in the forwards during the league.
Nickie Quaid & Eoin Murphy never play in goals with their clubs & never have, they seem to be doing ok at intercounty level. We keep giving out about puckouts etc going wrong, well Dalton is the best striker of a ball in Cork & it may be worth a try. Restarts are more important in hurling now & we are not good at it.I hope he doesn't. Between Senior Prem and A there are 24 keepers playing regularly and people want a keeper who hasn't played in goal since 2017 and not even with his club, beggars belief really. You'd swear goal-keeping isn't a specialised position and it's not like we are even talking an all star keeper here.
No he is not. No relation.

Ger used his long puck well in1990 when he bypassed, finnerty, mcinerney and keady,He's some man for one man.
I know Ger Cunningham used to win the long puc in the Cooley Mountains and all that but the game has changed and it's no longer about the keeper trying to rain balls down on the opposition 40 for an aerial duel between our centreforward and their centreback.
Exactly. If it's to be Dalton or somebody else, I think most, if not indeed all of us, are agreed that Collins and more importantly Cork can only benefit from real competition for the goal keeper jersey.
