The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

Anyone ever read Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell?

Would be interesting to apply it to Utd.

Would a point come, where all the non legacy fans fock off en mass, leaving all their sponsorship value in the mud. We like to banter them about noodles and tractors but that shit adds up.

If that revenue fell significantly, it could create a vicious circle of no money for investment => shit performance => shit sponsorship => no money for investment.

We all know about the no WNTNCL for 2 successive years clause for example.

So what would it take to get to a tipping point? Is it even possible?

Of course a super league would reduce them but for the sake of argument let's say no Super League.

It's already happening Handy m8. Unless new owners who don't Rob and pillage the club arrive in the next few years the damage might be irreparable.

And yes I read the tipping point. Read a lot of his stuff. I'm a big fan, although I haven't read his stuff for a while now.

Very possibly. But what would be THE moment? Wouldn't be surprised if it was like politics, some seemingly little thing will set it all off

The only way to force a sale is to stop attending matches. AC Milan supporters proved this.

The ex pros don't give a shite. Gary Neville will be in front of the cameras for the Scousers game Monday week instead of imploring his 5.2 million followers to not attend.

He and the rest of them don't give a shit about the club.

The “rehabilitation” of Mason Greenwood could set it off. He’s a €100m player. Maybe they’re hoping to get him back and that’s why they haven’t bought a proper forward and would explain the aurnatovic rumours.
The PR shit storm would finish the Glazers imo.

As for Donny’s point about the glazers doing “irreparable” damage to the club? As in they NEVER recover? Nonsense unfortunately.

It’s Manchester fucking United. If Man City can go from obscurity to domination in 5/6 years then a club the size of United will never fail.

All they need is for new owners to buy the club for cash. The club value is dropping which should actually be good for the club in the long term.

It doesn’t need to be an oil country either.
A Jim Ratcliffe type could buy it in the morning with change from his arse pocket.

Chelsea were able to pick and chose the new owners. Fucking Chelsea like. A pimple of a club.

No interest repayments and no dividends to owners regardless of club financial performance and Utd are sorted.

Basically all a new owner would need is to put up the money to buy the club outright, put up another €300m for the stadium redevelopment and then let the club be self sufficient.

Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs owners adopt this model and their clubs are doing just fine.

United fans are lucky in that another shit season can always have the silver lining that it’ll fuck the Glazers.
It’ll be short term pain for long term gain.

There would be a flurry of buyers if the club went on the market.

A well run United would be back on top in 2 to 3 years.

The matchday fans who continue to renew season tickets and attend the games are doing untold damage to the club.

Proper boycotting of the games would sink sponsorship and force a sale. It really is that simple.

The main supporters group MUST are an absolute disgrace to be still engaging with this rotten ownership. I've joined the group (its free) to tell them just that.

At the end of the day all that matters to the Glazers is their bottom line. If as supporters we voice our displeasure to sponsors we can make a difference. The teams assorted sponsors are seeing their social media accounts bombarded by irate fans.

I hope there are huge protests again at the Liverpool game. They got the megastore shut for the Brighton game. Anything like a repeat of last year in getting the game called off would be a huge result

It is very disheartening to see full houses at Old Trafford as it just undermines any meaningful protest. The club are going nowhere until the owners are forced out. 22/23 is already a write off.

Great post.

Problem is the bolded part. United have a huge following and for every 50,000 that boycott there will be 60,000 queuing up to replace them.

Any United fan with a long term view isn’t going to give up a ST either knowing how long the waiting list is to get one back.

Fans should go on a work to rule. By all means go to the game but sing anti-glazer songs. Embarrass the cunts. Picket the club shop. Buy no official merchandise.
Cancel tv sports subscriptions.

It’s easy to laugh at small actions but MUST need to get its members on board with it. There should be zero dialogue with the club while the glazers are in situ.
