It needs perspective.
People die from lots of things, a big flu season will kill a decent number of people.
There are costs to the isolation too, especially in the health care sector, operations won't happen, appointments will be missed, etc...
We are very rapidly approaching the point where there needs to be a re-evaluation of the risks.
18 months ago, there was no doubt, you let the disease rip and the consequences are going to be horrendous at a societal level.
Now, it's not so clear that's the case. Not saying lift all restrictions but some revision of things like isolation and contact are probably worth easing in a few weeks time.
