The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

So you thought, why not use him to wind up John and Mary?

Shame on you Phil, shame on you. That’s not what this board is about.

Heavens no. That would be entirely at odds with the ethos of this fine establishment.

But certainly it's useful from a governance perspective that you have access to a range of opinions on the new Old Trafford führer.

He's an appalling defender. Completely kamikaze. He can run fast. That's about it. Zero composure.
I actually disagree there, he gets drawn into 50/50 balls when others haven't picked up their man, he closes the distance quickly and the momentum often leads to a foul. That can be fixed.

Agree. His positional sense and awareness of runners around him are poor - which is lethal for someone playing CB.

His decision-making around when to step in vs stand off is iffy too.

Pace and strength he's well covered for and he'll have a good highlights reel of spectacular tackles & blocks - but he'll let you down in so many other ways.

As much as possible you need your CBs to radiate calmness & control through the side and he's not the man for that.
