The Verdict will be..

Apparently the foreperson of the jury asked 'what charge must they find Dwyer guilty of'. Not sure what that means besides that there is at least one tard on the panel, but it may be a precursor to the delivery of a guilty verdict if read one way.

"Before leaving, the jury foreman asked the judge: “What do we have to find him guilty of?”

There was laughter in court and the judge said they didn’t have to find him guilty of anything and said the charge was murder, before asking the jurors to retire.

So, the foreman wasn't sure what the charge was?

This cannot be true.

Surely....

Or 1p depending on the circumstances.

Who knows, perhaps the foreman put the question on behalf of one of the jurors. Perhaps they thought that he could be charged with manslaughter in that he mightn't have premeditated killing the woman but she did die at his hand (allegedly).

That possibility occurred to me as well. Even supposing Dwyer did kill her, has it been proved he intended to?
If the jury are not convinced that this has been proved, would he have to be found not guilty, since he was specifically charged with murder?
