This festival has run successfully over the last twenty years promoting traditional music in the Beara Peninsula. It successfully commemorates the late Beara musician and composer, Michael Dwyer, who came from a well known musical family. His brother Richard a renowned musicians in his own right, takes part every year. There is strong community participation by local musicians in sessions, competitions and workshops during the three day event, but we also invite acclaimed traditional musicians to play, like Matt Cranitch and Jackie Daly. We also create a
platform for younger musicians.
For the 2025 Michael Dwyer festival we will invite these steadfast contributors again along with new local, national and international talent.
There will be a dance performance by local National School children and a Ceili for all ages.
We are planning to extend our choice of workshops. The tin whistle competition gives our younger musicians a platform to shine.
