Sherkin island art photographer, Nuala Mahon, is behind an initiative to highlight the detrimental impact of plastics on West Cork’s islands.
Leave No Plastic Trace is a series of talks, poetry and video presentations taking place on Cape Clear Island on the 6th of August, Heir Island on the 8th of August and Sherkin Island on the 11th of August. Each event will start at 2:00pm and will run for approximately three hours.
Sponsored by Creative Places West Cork Islands, the events include a powerful and thought-provoking video made by Nuala Mahon to document her use of plastics over the course of one year.
Nollaig Rowan, an award-winning poet who is based part-time on Sherkin Island, will recite a poem she wrote in response to the video.
