Unemployable Promotions Presents: Briars & Tadhg Williams & The Friday Night Choir
Tadhg Williams is a songwriter originally from Waterford, now based in Dublin. His music has become known for its lyricism and heart-on-sleeve melodies endearing him to an already significant fanbase, earning praise from the likes of Declan O’Rourke, David Keenan and Stephen James Smith.
Williams’ releases to date have received significant support across Irish media with Hot Press describing him as "one of Ireland's most thrilling emerging songwriters". 'My Father’s Clouds' was released in February 2020 and two headline shows in Dublin and Waterford sold out to complement its release. His last single, 'The Summer Song', released in July 2021, was compared stylistically to David Gray and demonstrated a massive development in artistic maturity since his previous single. 'The Hope Song' enjoyed huge support from RTÉ Radio One, Ireland’s national broadcaster, as well as international airplay. Williams' collaboration with renowned folk artist Matt McGinn on a spoken word project, 'The Story of Me and Them (In Three Parts)', has
noted himself as a reflective lyricist and sensitive artist among critics and peers including Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Tony Clayton-Lea.. Often writing about his hometown, Williams credits his time writing poetry with Waterford writing collective Modwords for his development as a lyricist. His work is both deeply personal and deeply familiar.
Having supported acts in the past such as Glen Hansard, Rozi Plain and Niamh Regan, Williams has noted himself as a consummate live performer. The experience of playing venues such as Vicar Street, Whelan's, and Phil Grimes' Bar in Waterford has enabled him to curate a live show for venues of multiple sizes. The Non-League Divas Tour in Spring 2023 is Williams' opportunity to showcase some of his songs with a live band, The Friday Night Choir, before going into the studio to record his highly anticipated debut album.

BRIARS are a brand new Irish alternative folk act that sound like nobody else in the Irish scene. Their sound ranges from fragile subtlety, to raucous energy, visiting every stop along the way, always underlined with a signature twist that shows the real personality of the group.
At their core, BRIARS consists of two main writers, (Mick Grace & Paul O’Shea), but are joined in studio (as well as in a live setting) by some of Ireland’s finest musicians, often from contrasting backgrounds and styles.
The band’s first three singles received national radio play as well as recognition from music media in Ireland and the UK, resulting in the live unveiling at Liverpool Irish Festival 2020.
Drums, bass and keys lay the foundation of the sound, sitting underneath acoustic guitar, sometimes switched out for bouzouki or mandolin, taking a step in the direction of the accompanying melody instruments, such as fiddle, flute and whistle. All of this sits closely beneath distinct vocals, resulting in a refreshing contemporary folk sound, intertwined with traditional elements.
