Now in its fourth year, the Bere Island Military Festival commemorates all aspects of Bere Island's military history and the wider West Cork region. Bere Island was once one of the most fortified locations in Western Europe, a key British Admiralty base during WW1 which was also used by the US Navy. Bere Island was also one of Ireland's three former Treaty Ports. This festival includes talks, an exhibition and a guided tour of a Lonehort Gun Battery.
