A Cork town's beloved chipper has announced it'll be closing in less than two weeks.

The good news is it's not the end for Smilers in Carrigaline, but the bad news is their future business may not be in Cork's largest town.

Locals say they're "gutted" as the takeaway said the 4th of April will be their last day.

They promised they will be back one day, but added it'll likely be in another part of the county.


They said: "We will be closing in Carrigaline on the 4th of April,

"Thanks to everyone that has supported us throughout the year we have been there, you have given us the opportunity to move forward on to bigger and better, we can guarantee to you that it won’t be the last you’ll see of us in Cork, just maybe not in Carrigaline."

I think if I had a food business in Carrigaline I would concentrate on pigs ass and cabbage or turnips.

Carrigaline is a shit hole and prides itself on being a County town, fuck all down there just a sprawl of houses whose residents just cannot afford to live in the City

The road surface through the town is brutal as well. You wouldn't think they have two senior government ministers in Dublin. If it was a Healy Rae town the tarmacadam would be carefully ironed fifty euro notes.
