Saving an Amazon-kindle book as epub?

Is it possible. I was given a kobo device and I'd like to put an amazon-kindle book on to.

Is there any workaround with calibre? Option to save from cloud to epub, mobi etc on computer's hard drive?

Calibre. It's clunky, but it does the job.

Thanks lads. I'm familiar with both of these programs, my problem is more basic...locating the file... it seems to be just on the cloud not the computer.

Do I need to get the kindle reader on the machine? It seems to have a problem with OSX
