Minor hurling hurling 2017

Any idea if the same selectors are back in with Ring en block ? I must admit I found it strange that Sars didn't have a selector this year after dominating from U12 to U16 at the age and equally Na Piarsaigh should have a selector in 2017 having won the U16 and minor in 2015 and 2016. Who better to be able to judge the abilities of minor hurlers than selectors from successful clubs who have seen many of the players at close quarters over a number of years.

Minor League Final 2016 is set for Sunday 6th Nov according to Rebel Og. This could be a better standard of hurling than any Harty game. The Championship semi between these teams was certainly at a much higher level than any school game I have seen in the past 2 months. Sars will be out for revenge so it should have more bite than a normal league final.

I hope the Cork minor selectors will be in attendance.

Surprised Eoin Roche ( Bride Rovers ) is not included . I heard Barry Murphy was focussing solely on football ?

There is a lot of talent in there . Would love to see them show just what they are capable of

Lots of hurling talent in that squad for sure - it will be interesting to see if there will be any changes after the next round of Harty games - It's great to see two Cork schools play each other with the possibility of another all-Cork semi if Midleton can beat ASR. These games are going to essentially be hugely competitive Cork minor trials for all involved.

To be embarrassed humiliated in first round

To be embarrassed humiliated in first round

I think that is a very unfair comment to make. Cork minors may have greatly underachieved over the past few years given the players they had and some of the hype etc but they have not been embarrassed or humiliated. Last year's collapse against Tipperary in the last 20 minutes was probably the worst display by far but let's be fair about this. We are all disappointed with the poor returns from a few good minor teams and being beaten by the eventual champions in 2013 and 2016 plus the narrowly defeated finalists in 2015 should not be used as any comfort that we may not be too far away - the reality is we failed to get our players to Croke Park and we have to take it on the chin. I would agree with you that both Cork seniors and U21s have certainly been embarrassed and humiliated in various games over the past few seasons ( seniors v Tipp in 2014, v Galway in 2015 and v Tipp in 2016 ) and ( U21s v Waterford in 2015 and v Clare in 2014 ) - all terrible defeats with no spirit - but let's not try to burden these young minors with the same label before they even start.
