I’ve very fond memories growing up of my Nan telling me all the stories about the likes of Ring and Lynch, cycling to matches and the Thunder & Lightening Final. She more than anyone else imparted in me a passion and deep interest in Cork hurling and its tradition. My father used to quote that all the time
People in their 20s today will never have seen Cork win a hurling All Ireland and that’s a real pity. We had so much history, tradition and belief in our hurlers and that’s been lost. I’m genuinely worried that we may never get it back and that we’ll always be looking to the past to see what Cork hurling once stood for.
