Immigration Thread

Absolutely nailed it.

The man is a complete halfwit. The Green Party are an extreme left wing outfit masquerading as an environmental group.

Just look at their X spiel, 'progressive' and 'social justice' has shag all to do with the environment.

The 32 million of taxpayers money wasted on the recent referendum should have spelt the end of his political career but we dont seem to do resignations in Irish politics.

Its quite something just how thick as shit his come and get em series of Tweets were.

Incredibly as hundreds languish in tents he still hasnt taken them down!
In fact he claimed in the Dail his tweet promising own door accommodation in 6 months wasnt just that.

There is no support for the Greens disastrous policy of 'integration'. Closing hotels to the public and putting in asylum seekers from mostly safe countries has been a predictable disaster, met with opposition wherever its been railroaded through.

They seem to think baton charging and pepper spraying the public in response to protests is going to be forgotten or forgiven by these voters. Calling any and all opposition far right and parroting nonsensical buzzwords like 'dog whistle' is only serving to further piss off people.

Id have thought the recent referendum results and polling on immigration might have been a wake up call to Irish political parties but it seems unfortunately only the Shinners are half heartedly starting to wake up to public sentiment.
How dare you say SF are only waking up to public sentiment now, MLMD says this has been their policy for years,

Has there been any increase in McEntee's estimate of how many are currently flooding across the border. She initially went for 80%, then over 90%, any more for anymore?

How dare you say our Government, you know, the guys in charge of the levers of power in this state, still haven't woken up to public sentiment despite their not having a coherent policy in place for years. Maybe they'll promise to put one in place after the next election, the only need some time - like with housing and health. Isn't that it jimmy.

But hey, when you're shilling it's much better to be critical of the opposition for the Government making an absolute balls of it

The cracks are starting to widen

"A Fianna Fáil TD has complained that “several” existing immigration laws are not being enforced, and that "only a tiny number" of rejected asylum seekers are "forced to leave."

He urged Helen McEntee to “enforce the laws of the state.”

In a statement this week, Laois-Offaly TD Barry Cowen said that sections 21, 52 and 72A of the International Protection Act 2015 would “allow for the deportation of migrants if their applications for asylum are rejected.”

However, he added: “The Department is not forcing them to leave the country.”

“A total of 957 deportation orders were signed in 2023, but only 17 people were removed under various processes, including 52 people by enforced deportation order,” he said.

the Deputy said that there were “several pieces of legislation” on the statute books currently “that are not being enforced by the Department of Justice.”

“If someone applies for asylum and is rejected, there is a period where they can appeal, and if that appeal is unsuccessful, they should be sent back to their country of origin,” he said.

“But only a tiny number of people are being forced to leave.”

He added: “It’s sending a message that if you come here and apply for asylum, even if you get rejected, you don’t get sent back – you get to stay.

Things are bad for McEntee when this is coming from her coalition partners.

She's such an obvious liability at this stage that Simo must surely be tempted to pull the trigger.
The cracks are beginning to widen? I thought i was in the Carol Anthony thread,

Yeah, QUICK look over there, no cracks to be seen in FF or their stance - no sireee bob!

Nobody disputes the govt are all over the place on this and have made a hames of it, But SF have always been pro refugee and have
always been in favour of letting in unlimited numbers, Now they see public opinion has shifted and have moved in that direction,

Jimmy, SF are NOT in power. Remember all the lectures around the silly "not my real Taoiseach" stuff and how this is democracy and the people have spoken. GFFG are the elected government and are in the drivers seat driving the car (so to speak). If/when it crashes even shills like you can't seriously expect to be able to spread the blame to one of the passengers who have no actual control over how and in what direction the car is being driven.

I see nothing wrong with being pro-refugee btw, as long as they are genuine refugees fleeing war and/or oppression. Economic migrants tearing the @rse out of it freeloading and being a heavy burden on already hard pressed aspects of our society is different imho.

I liken it to the queues I frequently see outside Penny Dinners. There are genuine hard cases there of usually older (30+) people down on their luck who need charity to survive and usually are alone in the queue and I think it's brilliant the PD are there to give them a hot meal. But then I also see very well dressed younger (early to mid20s generally) people in the queue, people with designer bags and big brand label clothes cracking jokes and laughing with their pals as they usually arrive in groups into the queue, and think that they're selfish c*nts who if they cut back a bit on the bling could well afford to pay for the meal they're getting for free.

Penny Dinners has a no-questions-asked policy because they don't want to make it difficult for those who genuinely need them to survive, rather than those who use it as a method to save for their next piece of fashion.

SF aren't in government ffs.
Mehole and co are.
Mehole was on with Prendeville in January, Prendeville said we should be closing the borders even then and was met with a patronising "where's your empathy?"
Where's the empathy in letting people sleep in tents on the street.
People were being put in tents last August-tents left behind by people attending Electric Picnic-alarm bells should have gone off then.
Anyone who said anything was right wing and racist.

They've had to clear a tented village twice now.
They've made an absolute balls of it.
Never mind the record homelessness we have already.
McEntee is getting a kicking from her own bloody party.
Stop bringing SF into it.
It's absolutely pathetic.
That fuck wit Barry Ward was on Virgin Media last night peddling the same lines.
The new soundbite seems to be "this isn't an easy situation, the government are doing their best"
