Hotels in New York. Recommendations?

Have 3 nights in April.

Needs to be Manhantten/Times Square area for a wedding.

Don't want a complete shit hole but don't want the $500 a night boutique hotel either.

Just thought you guys could recommend.

Was thinking of staying in the Hotel Edison actually, got a good deal of about £500 there. Reason I'm staying in Times Square is I have a wedding in that area plus my mate actually lives around there so be close to her.
