Hostage situation in Ballina

Gardai armed response are dealing with an ongoing situation at a retail premises in the middle of Ballina.

According to Twitter two women are being held hostage at knife point

Some twitter people have even gone and named and posted photos of the alleged hostage taker, which I'm obviously not going to post here.

Crazy shit. Ballina is a lovely town, hard to imagine this kind of shit going on.

I remember the liberals amongst us being very concerned about armed and uniformed Gardai on the beat a few years ago when the RSU were established.

Here we are now, a quite town up there in remote Ballina and thank fuck the RSU are there to back up the local Gardai
