Happy Birthday Phil Lynott

The great Phil Lynott would have been 58 years old on the 20th of August.

God bless a very much missed Irish legend.

A SONG FOR WHILE I'M AWAY
(Lynott)

These words write and play and sing for you
do not convey the love I brought and bring to you
for this is a song for while I'm away
to say all the things, I'd love to say.
You are my life my everything, you're all I have
you are my hopes my, dreams my world come true
you're all I have please heed me now, these words I have to say
.Now I'm headed for the border you see this song,
it ends right at the start
I swore when I was younger no one would win my heart.
And far away hills look greener still but soon they'll all slip away
it's then I'll be returning and I'll be coming home to stay.

just read this morn that he had a wee project with DP's Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Paice in the early 70s when Gillan was sick, think one or two tracks were recorded

Indeed.
And with my favourite Thin Lizzy tune:

:)
Excellent choice D.
"Rosalie", "Don't Believe A Word" and "The Wild One" are also personal favourites of mine.
"The Boys Are Back In Town", while being a little "gas station rock", brings me back happy memories of early teenage discos.
Continue resting in peace Phil. You gave a lot of people a huge amount of pleasure and will never be forgotten.
