Just found this on a very esteemed website, so presuming the spelling is "original". And the missing apostrophe. Willy coulda posted on here biy!

Shall I compare thee to a Summers day?
Thou art more louely and more temperate:
Rough windes do shake the darling buds of Maie,
And Sommers lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heauen shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd,
And euery faire from faire some-time declines,
By chance, or natures changing course vntrim'd:
But thy eternall Sommer shall not fade,
Nor loose possession of that faire thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wandr'st in his shade,
When in eternall lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breath or eyes can see,
So long liues this, and this giues life to thee,

Wait for me and I'll return.
Only wait very hard.
Wait when you are filled with sorrow,
As you watch the yellow rain.
Wait when the winds sweep the snow drifts.
Wait in the sweltering heat.
Wait when others have stopped waiting,
Forgetting their yesterdays.

Wait when even from afar, no letters come to you.
Wait even when others are tired of waiting.
Wait even when my mother and son think I am no more.
And when friends sit around the fire,
Drinking to my memory,
Wait, and do not hurry to drink to my memory too soon.

Wait, for I'll return, defying every death.
And let those who do not wait say that I was lucky.
They never will understand that in the midst of death,
You, with your waiting, saved me.
Only you and I will know how I survived.
It's because you waited, as no one else did.

If I wanted to be a nit picking fucker about it I'd tell you that you shouldn't really start a sentence with "And". :D

This may have changed in the years since I finished school.

I'm afraid it has, Crisp-Y. I got pwned on this one by an English teacher a couple of years ago.

Modern schools exist in part as attempts to tame poetry.

I was talking about Carmona's use of the word "And".

Regarding schools and poetry; I recently saw a copy of "Soundings" in Waterstones and it was mocked up to look like an old copy with bits of writing and doodles on it.

Are kids that lazy that they can't deface their own book of poetry?

Ah now, Crispy, I was obviously posting in an informal and jocular register. The first 'sentence' has no subject and the one you point out has no verb! You could have had me up before the Grammar Nazis on multiple counts.

Do you not recognize this sonnet?
