Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I thought about this as I saw Brian roche today . Them 2 give absolutely everything on the field . It’s shocking how either of them cant get on the field . Brian roche and Tommy o connell are everyrhing we need for 2 midfielders . Not sure what anyone else thinks in here but why haven’t them 2 been tried together . Work rate agression and both able to hurl . Fitzgibbon is a centre forward and that’s where he should be .
I Agree. I'm sure Meade is working hard, but if he cannot sprint as proven today. WTF is P Ryan doing selecting him on the panel and using him as an impact sub. Its crazy.

B Roche performances last year at MF were arguably better than any midfielder this year. Is he injuried? Why is Meade, Coleman ahead of him and ahead of TOC. Its crazy.

We need workers not passengers.

Heard some clown saying this walking up the boggy road. Some Cork supporters are delusional. We’re miles off it.

No were not this simply isn’t correct, we lost a game today by 2 points vs the second best team in the country having played 20 minutes plus down a man….it means we are actually close to being competitive however every mistake we make is amplified.
Our sideline have certainly not helped this championship at all, the subs brought on were awful and that was clear before they came on, the keeper has been off the standard for a while, a change in the half back line was needed and wasn’t made….each of these mistakes kill the team, like the selection vs Waterford and slowness to change, this team has a basis to be more competitive but this season is over because at this level you have to make less mistakes on both sides of the line then the other team

Anyone think Ethan Twomey was whipped too soon today? Sacrificed to get Coleman on the pitch maybe. Don't like personal criticism of players but as an inter county hurler there's certain standards that have to be met. Our goalkeeper is unable to pick half forwards in space or a direct puck to a half back. He can comfortably hit a full back line player and take a return. This is unacceptable at this level. Decision making on the pitch is a major downfall. Our half forward line disappeared in the final 10 mins. Clare totally took over there. Short year I think.

We’ve won 1 championship game in 6.

Pat Ryan's record as Cork senior manager has seen his team concede 0-18 3-25 2-22 3-25 2-25 3-26 An average of 30 points a match. He has won one match, where they conceded 0-18 points v Waterford in the Park last year. You cannot possibly expect to win matches conceding those kind of numbers.

Yes but at same time the last 4 losses were by 1pt, 1pt, 3pts, 2pts. So scoring plenty too.
To me that's almost what's most frustrating, every game is by a single score and we can all find mistakes each game that are costing the team. So it feels they're not miles off any day but can't get a win.
Nobody is blowing them away in the manner Limerick dispatched Tipp today

Wrong about Limerick underage.

21. Lorcan Lyons (Monaleen)
22. Mike Mackey (Adare)
23. Conor McSweeney (South Liberties)
24. Jack O Grady (Knockainey).

The current team has is built on those 2 winning under 21 teams. l agree their much lauded academy hasn’t produced much under age success since and I think this will see them really struggle when this team breaks up.
This is typical of the flawed view on young hurlers in Cork. In Cork fellas think player development & progression is like steps of a stairs. That’s just more of the rebel og bullcrap. One Cork Corkness BS, you couldn’t make it up.

The backbone of those Limerick U21 teams were already senior Limerick hurlers. Some of the main guys went straight from minor to senior as should be the case in Cork too if fellas are good enough.
But In Cork you somehow have to be 23/24 before you are given a chance.
