Whats the hold up here folks ?
We are investigating Genocide here on an unprecedented scale.
Why aren't the cops kicking down doors in Nunneries looking for answers/evidence ?
Why has this dropped down to page 5 of the newspapers ?
As Mattie said, we're not investigating a genocide!
When they investigate the extent of what happened, and how it's classifed, imo it's highly unlikely to be recorded as a genocide for although the killings seemed systematic, it's not against a particular ethnic, racial or religious group. Just my own prediction.
As for your concern on media silence, well, generally, at the moment there's very little to report. The government appointed Yvonne Murphy to lead the inquiry, as announced today on websites, radio and tv news and on twitter. The scale of the inquiry will likely be huge, but agreeing where to draw the parameters will understandably take some time.
If it's being taken seriously, which it appears to be, then rushing in to it half-arsed won't bring adequate outcomes or conclusions, so though many are impatient for the details to be investigated as soon as possible, it's only fair and just to the victims and their families for it to be as thorough and as details as possible.
Btw, it was a piece on BBC 10 o'clock news this evening, by Cork's own Fergal Keane.
