The People's Republic Of Cork Gallery

The People's Republic Of Cork Gallery

Its about time a gallery was compiled of all the different faces and places in photos with PeoplesRepublicOfCork t-shirts so here goes. There are a few to get us started that we’ve gathered over the last year. Every month we’ll send out some free gear from the PRC shop to the best entry.

Aleida Guevara. Daughter of Argentinian born revolutionary Che Guevara. Although initially studying medicine Che became a leading player in the Guatemalan and Cuban revolutions. He made his final trip to Bolivia in 1967 where he lead a group of revolutionaries only to captured by Bolivian troops and executed. He remains an icon for many youth groups, socialists and anti-globalistaion activists to this day. Believe it or not the Guevara's decend from the Lynch clan and Aleida was searching out her roots during her stay here.

Glen Hansard. Although now concentrating on a solo career Glen has been lead singer with The Frames since their birth in 1990. Since then they have created a huge fan base in Cork and through out the rest of Ireland without ever needing large scale media attention. The boys were more than happy to don the PRC shirts at one of their final gigs at The Savoy earlier in the year.

The Puerto Rican Feen. PRC ambassador to Puerto Rico. He says  ”Just a photo of myself and the PRC shirt at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. This location was used in Contact and in one of the James Bond films (Goldeneye). It is one of the largest radio telescopes in the world. I just thought you might be interested in how far the PRC has travelled!!”. It'd be mad if could all visit you at Christmas feen.

Cliona O'Connor.  Eventual winner of ten grand on Channel Four's Eden. Unsurprisingly, with that amount of cash in hand we haven't heard much from the blond Corkonian recently but she did manage to redesign a PRC t-shirt and get captured in it more than once on Channel 4.

Ann Collins. Another Cork girl (from out west in Ballydehob this time) made it on to Treasure Island with a PRC shirt. The winner (of 50K!) this time being another Corkonian in the shape of Se·n O'Brien a farmer from Midleton. It seems us Cork folk can't stop winning reality TV which suggests e should have a show all of our won broadcast nightly on PRC!
