The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Very strange indeed. The NZ 95 bug must never have left.

No Finn Russell in the Scottish squad so I’d say Healy’s phone is ringing off the hook. I don’t think he’s got it to be a consistent starting 10 for Ireland but he’d make himself NIQ in the eyes of the IRFU. It never held AJ Macginty back (who interestingly is soon to be eligible for Ireland again - not for caps but more for a contract at a province). The Scots would cast him aside sharpish as he’s not an Embra schools boy, it’s a tough decision for him.

Ireland A side for friday night's game against All Blacks xv

Good to see Lowry get a run and also good to see stockdale back

Casey needs a big game and let's see how Frawleys goes but I'm not convinced either are long term options in green

Will be good to see if Timoney and Coombes can out their hand up and a big night for Thornbury after a year out with injury

Hopefully Crowley gets a run from the bench

Ireland A: Mike Lowry; Jimmy O'Brien, Jamie Osborne, James Hume, Jacob Stockdale; Ciáran Frawley, Craig Casey (capt); Jeremy Loughman, Dave Heffernen, Tom O'Toole; Joe McCarthy, Gavin Thornbury; Cian Prendergast, Nick Timoney, Gavin Coombes.

Replacements: Diarmuid Barron, Dave Kilcoyne, Marty Moore, Ross Molony, Max Deegan, Caolin Blade, Jack Crowley, Calvin Nash.

based on the above then i guess we are looking at the following 23 for the springboks

Porter, Sheehan,Furlong, Ryan, Beirne, O Mahoney, VDF, Doris, JGP, Sexton, Hansen, Henshaw, Ringrose, Balacoune, Keenan

Healy, Herring, Bealham, Baird, Conan, Murray, Carberry, Mccloskey

Very interesting that Craig Casey is actually captain. A very strong indicator of the level of esteem he's held in by the Irish setup
