Gatland gone. On gardening leave until the summer. If they sacked him outright they'd have to pay him £2m, there's a clause for the end of season and that's what they're going with. 14 losses on the bounce. Dipped below Georgia in the rankings. Watch them beat Ireland in a fortnight with the new Scott Quinnell at 8 and Max Boyce doing am 80min rendition of Hymns and Arias

Finn Russell shat the bed.
Missed all the conversions as Scotland lose by a point. They were by far the better team.
Borthwick continues to live a charmed life and it's good news for all of us.

Except that England marched them back at least twice in the final quarter from good positions. The English forwards won that game for them. The Smiths did nothing with ball in hand.

That coincided with Huw Jones going off too. Scotland are completely shapeless without him or Tuipolotou outside Russell. They just lose their shape too easily. Even MacDowell's break should have been easily defended.

The Scots didn't get much from the ref at times too. Itoje was on someone's back for a turnover and then gave away a penalty on the 80th minute for a deliberate knock on. Stonewall yellow.

Pierre Brousset showed in Thomond Park a few weeks ago that his law book is different to everyone else's.

I had a look across the stats for international (6N, Autumn Internationals, Rugby Championship) and elite club comps (Champions Cup, URC, Top 14, Premiership, Super Rugby) for the last 2 years or so.

The bookies are expecting more reds than there has ever been (bar 2021, when there was 5). They've introduced the 20minute red cards this year, but that hasn't led to a big increase in reds in other competitions.

Under 3.5 reds @ 10/11 looks good value.
They put the over/under on yellows at 17.5, which looks about right.

Tournament totals

16 yellow cards (...almost bang-on the Spread betting prediction)
4 red cards (...only 2 going into the final round of games. Enter: Italy)
98 tries (...I recall backing over 88.5 tries at somewhere around evens. Not a stats-based call, just a random punt)
