Rome is one giant art gallery itself. The Sistine Chapel is obviously one to catch. You need a lifetime to see every piece of artwork there though .

Paris for art galleries.
Rome is about the Ancient ruins of the forum, colloseum, circus maximus etc. and enjoying the ambiance of hanging around piazza navona/del fiori, the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps. The pantheon and Vatican also great choices.
All in all just about the best city to visit. Enjoy.

p.s. there is a museum of modern art which is in a magnificent marble building near the via Veneto. Didn't go in but it's beside a lovely green park area.
